How to (Still) Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in Boston
From beer kits and live-streamed music to outdoor Irish feasts.

South Boston's annual St. Patrick's Day parade might be canceled again this year , but there are still activities around the city to safely partake in. From scoping out nearby pubs to ordering an Irish-themed feast from home, you can find a few creative ways to pay homage to one of Boston's most famously celebrated holidays. Check out our list to help inspire your upcoming plans and be sure to visit the links for updated safety guidelines. As always, bring a mask or two wherever you go.

Purchase a limited-time only St. Patrick's Day kit from Harpoon
If you're celebrating from home this year, Harpoon has you covered. New England's favorite brewery is offering its special St. Pat's Fest Home Kits to those who want to get their booze on without leaving the house. The $48 kit includes festive Harpoon-branded merchandise, with a St. Patrick's Day-themed hat and pint glass shipped right to your house. As for the beer, you'll also get a 16-ounce four-pack featuring an original Harpoon IPA, and limited-edition flavors like the citrusy Big League, malty Celtic Red, and a flavorful Mike's Pastry Cannoli Stout (brewed using Mike's Pastry's very own cannoli shells!). Heads up, sales end on Tuesday, March 9, so you might want to go straight to the online checkout.

Or if you're leaving the house, head to the beer hall
Harpoon is offering traditional homemade Irish meals and food specials starting Friday, March 12, leading up to St. Patrick's Day, with festive pints on deck and dishes from bangers and mash to meat pies. To make a reservation, head to the website .

Order to-go or reserve a table at The Beehive
The Beehive's Erin Go Beehive celebration features Irish specials available at the restaurant and for pick-up. From now until Monday, March 15, you can put in an order for a St. Patrick's Day feast ready for you on Wednesday, March 17, or you can make a reservation to enjoy some corned beef brisket, shepherd's pie, or roasted chicken at The Beehive on the holiday itself. If you end up ordering from the to-go menu, we recommend adding the Pot O' Gold cocktail, which features a mix of Irish whiskey, lemon, cinnamon syrup, apricot liqueur, apple juice, and bitters.

Celebrate the Emerald Isle with a stroll across the Emerald Necklace's bridges
Now until the end of March, the Emerald Necklace will be lighting up select bridges within the park system featuring a bright green glow that's hard to miss. From dusk to 9 pm, the lights will be on display to help you spice up your daily strolls and plan a festive photo opp.

Watch Dropkick Murphys from home
Dropkick Murphys might be shipping up to Boston again this year, but the only way you can catch their live performance is from home. For the second year in a row, Boston's hometown heroes will host a virtual livestream of their annual St. Patrick's Day performance for free. The show, appropriately named Still Locked Down , will begin at 7pm so be sure to get your setup ready and speakers charged for the occasion.

Sign up for South Boston's virtual 5K
The annual South Boston St. Patrick's Day race is happening virtually this year, with proceeds going toward the Edgerley Family South Boston Boys & Girls Club's youth development and teen programs. Registration is now open for $15 a participant or $27 for the race bundle, which includes a shirt designed by Dropkick Murphys. Choose your own course or even log in the 3.1 miles from your Peloton or treadmill to be part of the action.

Grab a pint from one of the many pubs in the area
Boston has no shortage of authentic Irish pubs, with a long list to choose from when you're craving a Guinness. Take your pick from Biddy Early's , Mr. Dooley's , The Black Rose , and J.J. Foley's all located downtown. Or if you're headed toward Cambridge, there's always The Druid , and not far you'll find Somerville's The Burren . For St. Patrick's Day specials, Somerville's Olde Magoun's Saloon is hosting a socially-distanced celebration and serving Irish breakfast until 2pm on March 17. If reservations are filled up, you can get the same specials at Charlestown's Blackmoor Bar & Kitchen or Medford's LongCross Bar + Kitchen , which are all brought to you by the same owner.
